RCA Records Label is a brand name used by Sony Music Entertainment for its American record label. The label was founded in 1929 as the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) label, and became RCA Victor after a merger with the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1932. In 1968, RCA was acquired by General Electric and became a subsidiary of GE, eventually being merged into GE's NBC division. In 1986, the label was privatized and sold to Bertelsmann, and eventually became part of Sony Music Entertainment after Sony acquired Bertelsmann's stake in the company.
