Pentax is a brand of photographic equipment, founded in Asahi Kogaku Goshi Kaisha in November 1919. The company produced the first Japanese-made 35mm camera in 1936, and went on to produce a number of popular 35mm SLRs, including the Pentax Spotmatic, which was introduced in 1964. Pentax also produces digital cameras, camcorders and binoculars.
