Opinions of The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

This book is fascinating and I was disappointed to read that many other readers did not think so. So here is my answer. I think those readers are tackling this book the other way round when they criticize Gladwell for his inability to demonstrate his points thoroughly. Of course, Gladwell could have sprinkled every i and crossed every t and shown every counterexample to the theories he is proposing. There is a word for the books that achieve that: DIE. Gladwell is a storyteller and he knows how to keep it. Gladwell is a storyteller and knows how to keep the reader involved. By entering too many details, you would lose your audience. Fortunately, the reader who is not completely convinced can go into more detail by reading Gladwell's sources, which are exhaustively referenced at the end of the book. Another criticism is that Gladwell does not reach a specific point or that his points are fuzzy (this was probably more true with "Blink"). I almost want to say "who cares?" This book and "Blink" are true compendiums of the latest advances in psychology and sociology. So, what happens if the general idea of the book is lax? Now you have understood innumerable fascinating anecdotes that you can reconstruct in your own way. It is Gladwell's loose structure that allows you to connect these disparate points in a story that you can digest, and despite accusations that it is not accurate about your general thesis, individual incidents are very well explained. I love knowing the differences between Sesame Street and Blue's Clues and the differences between the cognitive abilities of an adult and a child. Would you have read a complete book dedicated exclusively to that? Probably not, but I was happy to read a chapter dedicated to him, and one very well written. I may approach non-fiction in a different way than most, and I will admit that I am fascinated by almost any new and radically different idea on any subject, regardless of whether I believe it is true or not, but I believe that people who enter this book seek a different way of thinking about the world around us, macro & amp; microcosmically, they will have fun. Those who enter the book seeking to convince themselves beyond doubt that this way of thinking is correct, they will not do it. ...Plus
