Opinions of Life of Pi

It is not so much that La vida de Pi, is particularly moving (although it is). It is not even so much that it is written in a language that is both delicate and resistant at the same time (which it is also). And it's certainly not that Yann Martel's vision-filled passages are so precise that you begin to feel the salt water on your skin (even if they are). It is that, like Bohjalian and Byatt and all the great Houdini of the literary world, in the last moments of your trip, after you, it is not so much that Pi's Life is particularly moving (even if it is). It is not even so much that it is written in a language that is both delicate and resistant at the same time (which it is also). And it's certainly not that Yann Martel's vision-filled passages are so precise that you begin to feel the salt water on your skin (even if they are). It is that, like Bohjalian and Byatt and all the great Houdini of the literary world, in the last moments of his trip, after having felt the emotions, he endured the moments of anguish that he so longed for. The resolution of the characters' struggle: that you realize that the book is not what you thought it was. History is transformed, instantly, and forever. And in those last chapters, you suddenly realize that morality has also changed. Do you feel that Martel's words persist, suggesting, and you find yourself wondering if you are the atheist he takes? The leap of faith on the deathbed, waiting for white light and love? Or the agnostic who, in trying to stay true to his reasonable being, explains the mysteries of life and death only in scientific terms, lacks imagination to the end and, in essence, loses the best story? A brief synopsis of this dazzling story of a young Indian man who was adrift in the Pacific in a lifeboat with a tiger that used to reside at his father's zoo in Pondicherry. It does not help, because once you finish the book, you might decide that this was not, in fact, what the book was about. It is useless because, depending on your philosophical bent, the book will mean something very different to your best friend than to you. It is useless because it is almost impossible to describe what makes this book so great. Read this book. Not because it is an exceptional piece of literary talent. It is, of course. But there are many good authors and many good books. Although they are not common, they are not in danger of extinction. Read this book because in recent memory, aside from the blindness of José Saramago, there have been no stories that make such large statements with so few elements. As Pi says in his story: "Life in a lifeboat is not a great life." It's like a final game of chess, a game with few pieces. The elements could not be simpler, nor the bets higher. "It's the same with Martel's undulating fable of a book about a boy in a boat with a tiger, a simple story with possible consequences that can alter the lives of his children. As Martel writes, "The world is not just the way it is. It's how we understand it, is not it? And by understanding something, we bring something, right? "Like Schroedinger's cat in the box, the way this book is understood, the way it is perceived affects what it is. that this book will make its readers believe in God, I think it's a matter of perspective, seeing this jewel of a novel as an adventure of man against the elements (the "dry and unleavened reality" of what really happened) is There is a way to do it, but to understand that this piece is something indescribable, something divine, is by far the greatest leap of faith, Oh, but it's worth the leap, if the reader is like that atheist, willing to see the Best story. ...
